The Northshore Community Foundation, a registered 501C3 non-profit, is proud to administer the Art For Schools fund.

This Art For Schools fund was created in 2019 during the ‘Oh Joy of Joys’ statue project.  The goal is to provide donations to the art programs of under served schools on the northshore of the Columbia River Gorge  on an bi- annual basis. Many of the artists participating in our 2019 Art & Wine Fusion event, donated money to start this fund.

In spring of 2021, we distributed all of those funds split evenly between four local schools: Wishram, Lyle, Klickitat and Centerville. A special presentation was scheduled at each school. Tammara Tippel, Executive Director and several of her board members presented the students and staff with large prop checks created by Insitu, a Boeing subsidiary, to make it a fun and memorable moment.

Everyone was SO GRATEFUL for the donation, which in several schools, was larger than their annual budget for Art for the entire student body. Every dollar really does make a difference. Your charitable donations to these students supports talent and promotes creativity.

Wishram school purchased a kiln and necessary tools to allow students to complete the entire cycle of their projects. Before this, they had to send their pieces off to be fired by someone else. You can see below the photo of Superintendent Mike Roberts and Arts Teacher __ posing with their schools check presented by Northshore Community Foundation Board Member Dawn McSweyn. The tile mosaic  artwork behind them and others decorating the lobby were created by students under supervision of an Artist in Residence.  It is a satisfying sense of pride for students to see something they helped to create, on display and enhancing their public spaces.

In Klickitat, NCF Director Tammara Tippel presented their check to the students and teachers of the art class. You can see in the photo below, each student is showing their own artwork they are currently creating. The youth were very excited when they realized we were providing them with money specifically focused on more art projects and materials being available in the coming year.

Our next fundraiser for the Art For Schools fund will begin at the end of 2024 and culminate in early Dec 2025 with the raffling of a lovely framed artwork titled ‘Snow in Rheingarten’ (The City Park in White Salmon) Follow this link to our online raffle ticket system. We have a BIG THANK YOU to Pamela Zachary-Morneault for donating this artwork. Pam is a shining star; an exemplary leader of service above self in providing community support.

The Art For Schools Committee consists of Northshore Community Foundation Board Members. Building this fund and being able to gift monies to these schools is one of our favorite projects. If you would like to participate on this committee or have an idea for a fundraiser that we can utilize to raise to increase the Arts for Schools Fund, please contact our Executive Director. We welcome you!
